To change My SecuriSync folder location, perfrom the following steps:


Starting with the version 2.9, the default location of My SecuriSync has been changed to C:\Users\$username\My SecuriSync. It is still in the user profile path, but it is no longer under Documents.

SecuriSync does not support syncing folders that are residing on SMB shares (i.e. File Server) and NAS devices. If your default folder is redirected via Group policy to a file server, you can change the location so that My SecuriSync folder will remain on the local drive of the computer even when the redirect is in place.

To change My SecuriSync folder location, right-click SecuriSync icon > click Settings > Settings:

  • The folder can be moved to the Data drive with more capacity
  • This option can be configured during installation or post-installation from the Settings menu


To change default folder location, perform the following steps:

  1. Shut down SecuriSync
  2. Unlink the client by deleting ~/Library/Application Support/SecuriSync/ folder.
    Note: do NOT delete the files from the My SecuriSync folder
  3. Uninstall the client
  4. Create new Admin user on the Mac:
    1. Navigate to System Preferences > Users & Groups and click on the + icon
    2. Enter new admin information and password:
      Create new admin user
  5. Log out of any accounts and log in with this new user
  6. Copy the Home folder to another drive:
    1. Open Terminal Window
    2. Type in the command:
      ls /Users
      to list the home folders in the Users folder. Confrim the current Home folder name (the name of the User for which you want to change the Home folder location):
      ls /Users
    3. Type in the command:
      ls /Volumes
      to see the hard drive or volume you want to relocate the folder to (for example, External):
      ls /Volumes
    4. Use a Termnial command called ditto to copy the folder:
      sudo ditto -V /Users/Support/ /Volumes/External/Users/Support
      /Users/Support/ is the current location of the home folder
      /Volumes/External/Users/Support is the new desired location of the Home folder:
  7. Change the Home Folder location:
    1. Navigate to System Preferences > Users & Groups and right-click the name of the user for which the Home folder needs to be relocated
    2. Click Advanced Options:

    3. For the Home directory field, choose the new Home folder location and click OK:
      Choose new location
    4. Confirm the Home folder has been successfully relocated:
      Check new location
    5. Delete the original Home folder
  8. Install SecuriSync and enter the same SecuriSync user credentials as you used before
