Important: due to changes in Microsoft policies, we can no longer set up federation with consumer Skype for our customers in the shared environment. Customers hosted on dedicated platforms continue to have this functionality enabled until further notice.

Currently, there are the following known issues with Skype For Business And Consumer Skype Federation:

  • In Intermedia environment, federation starts working several days after confirmation from Microsoft that is has been set up. Microsoft guarantees the request is processed within 30 days
  • When adding a consumer Skype user without a Managed Service Account (MSA), it may show up as cid-(12345something)@outlook.com in the contact details and user Skype ID will no longer be shown. This is a confirmed bug. As a workaround, Microsoft recommends creating a Managed Service Account and connecting the consumer account to the MSA one, which means enabling Skype For Business services for this user in the HostPilotĀ® Control Panel.
