Add-DistributionGroupMember cmdlet enables to add a new specified member(s) to the distribution group. Only mail-enabled member can be added to the group.

The following members can be added to the distribution group:

  • Distribution Lists
  • Mailboxes (Exchange, OWA-only, POP/IMAP, Resource mailbox)
  • Mail contacts
  • Public folders

1 Authentication Information (all parameters)  


(aliases: GUID, DistinguishedName)

ADObjectIDParameter R

A property, that specifies the group for managing the members of the distribution group (list)

Value of one of these parameters can be used as Identity:

1 GUID Globally Unique Identifier (ObjectGuid)
2 DistinguishedName Unique name of the object in Active Directory


(alias: Members)

ADObjectIDParameter[] R

Identity of the object(s), which will be added to the distribution group

Mail-enabled objects:

  • Exchange
  • OWA-only
  • POP/IMAP mailbox
  • Resource mailbox
  • Contact
  • Public folder
  • Distribution list

Value of one of these parameters can be used as m ember's identity:

  • GUID
  • DistinguishedName

Adding one member to the distribution group (list) by GUID:

Adding several members to the distribution group (list) :
