Failover Routing

Failover routing is an important business continuity feature of Hosted PBX. Failover routing provides advanced, instant redundancy by automatically redirecting all inbound calls to an alternate phone number in the event a customer’s location is detected as unavailable to receive calls.

Constant Monitoring

Intermedia network constantly monitors all customer locations for service availability. In the event a customer's location is detected as unavailable, Failover Routing takes effect and reroutes calls to the predetermined phone number(s).

Per Phone Basis

Failover Routing can be implemented on a per phone basis. This way, each phone can have a unique failover destination. Calls can be sent directly to mobile phones, home phones, redundant PBX’s, or any other 10-digit phone number.

Protect Your Customers

Failover Routing protects customers from local outages such as failure of their IP network, such as ISP outages, hardware failure, and power outages. In the event Intermedia's network is unable to deliver a call to the phone system, it will automatically reroute the call to an alternate destination.

Continued Site Monitoring

Intermedia network continues to monitor the affected location until service is restored, and then, the original routing is restored.

Configuring Failover Routing

Failover routing can be set up on a HPBX 2.0 desk phone by logging in to HostPilotĀ® Control Panel and navigating to SIP-T & PBX 2.0. Click on "Devices" and select the desired phone. Click on the "Failover routing" tab in the submenu, by default, we will route calls to Voicemail, however you may configure any 10-digit phone number as your failover routing destination.
