This article explains the difference between a quote and the first invoice and the difference between the first and other invoices.

Difference between a quote and the first invoice

New customers may receive a Confidential Service Proposal - the quote with a detailed list of UCaaS/CCaaS services, the pricing, and special offers.


Once the account is created or the Intermedia Unite module is activated on the existing account, and UCaaS/CCaaS services are ordered, a billing cycle begins. One month later, on the Billing Day of the month, charges will apply to the account and the first transaction will be posted. The transaction will provide an explanation of charges in PDF format. The invoice will be issued to the account on the first day of the next month.

The amount shown for UCaaS/CCaaS services in the quote may not match the amount shown in the first bill due to the following reasons:

  • The quote does not include pro-rated charges because those are dependent on the date(s) you purchase licenses and based on the actual quantity purchased.
  • The items ordered may be different from the items quoted.
  • Shipping charges are subject to change. Actual shipping charges will be calculated at the time the order is placed.
  • Taxes and fees are based on service address and can differ by address.
  • There are delays for when billing starts after the purchase of UCaaS/CCaaS services has been made. Refer to the Knowledge Base article When Do UCaaS/CCaaS Charges Begin? for more information. 

Difference between the first and other invoices

On page 11 of your quote, you will notice a brief description:


  1. The first bill will be higher than your next bills because it will include:
  • One-time charges:
    • one-time shipping fees
    • one-time number porting fees
    • one-time equipment charges
  • Pro-rated charges for the partial first month of service
  • Full charges for the next month

Important: Intermedia Unite services are billed one month in advance.

Below you can find an example of pro-rated charges when the Resource Line service was added during the billing period.


  1. The second bill will only include charges for 1 full month of service unless new services were added during the billing period or other one-time charges incurred. Charged for new services will be pro-rated for a partial month's service from the date of the order to the next BDOM + charges for the next month.
