FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer files from one host to another host.

You need to find the FTP server hostname and login credentials to access to your FTP server via FTP client (Filezilla, Internet Explorer, Command-Line, etc.).

    1. Find out hostname

Option 1. Use your domain name

If your domain name is already pointing to your virtual server hosted with Intermedia, you can use it as the hostname.

Option 2. Use your virtual server unique address

If you need to access your Intermedia hosted virtual server without using your domain name (for example, in case domain name is not pointing to Intermedia yet, or during the DNS propagation), as the Hostname you should use the unique address of your virtual server with Intermedia.

      • Windows 2008
As the unique address you should use the autodomain assigned to your account has WebAccountName.serveronline.net format where WebAccountName is the name of your Intermedia account.
      • Windows 2003
As the unique address you should use the IP address of your virtual server, it can be found in the HostPilotĀ® Control Panel > Web/FTP Server > FTP Server > Server Settings.
      • Linux
As the unique address you should use the IP address of your virtual server, it can be found in the HostPilot> Web/FTP Server > Apache Server > Server Settings.
    2. Find out the Username and Password

Anonymous FTP access is not allowed.

By default there is a System User created for every account. This user has Read and Write permissions to all content of your virtual server.

      • Windows 2008
The System User name has WebAccountName@WebAccountName.serveronline.net format where WebAccountName is the name of your Intermedia account, and its password can be reset on the HostPilot Control Panel > Users page.

      • Windows 2003
The System User name is your WebAccountName, and its password can be reset via the HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Site Users.

      • Linux
The System User name is your WebAccountName, and its password can be reset via the HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Ftp Server > FTP Users.
