To upload your website from your local computer to the hosted server via Expression Web:

  1. Click File > Open Site. 
  2. Browse to your website located on the local drive.
  3. Click File > Publish Web site.

You can also publish your website from an external remote web server to the Intermedia hosted server. Please follow directions from Expression Web online help.

To edit your hosted website directly on the server via Expression Web:

  1. Click File > Open Site. 
  2. If your website is managed by FrontPage Server extensions, use one of the following URLs to open your website:
    • Domain name http://www.domain.com
    • IP address of your web server http://64.78.**.**/ (you can find the IP address of your web server in HostPilot Control Panel on the Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Server Information page).
  3. If your website is not managed by FrontPage Server extensions, use one of the following URLs to open your website:
    • Domain name ftp://www.domain.com
    • IP address of your web server ftp://64.78.**.**/.
  4. Enter the credentials of your site user. You can create and manage Site Users in HostPilot on the Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Site Users page.

Notes:

  • FrontPage Server extensions are not required to create or publish the website via Expression Web.
  • You can edit or publish a website created via FrontPage using Expression Web; however, you'll not be able to add new FrontPage-specific items to your website via Expression Web.
  • If you have FrontPage Server extensions installed on your web server, you need to publish your website using the HTTP protocol (http://domain.com).
