Existing contacts are replaced with Exchange contacts.
There is an issue when using Entourage and an iPhone with ActiveSync. If you send a message from the iPhone, then view the message in Entourage in the Sent Items folder, the text of the sent message will be unreadable in Entourage.
We have seen complaints that Outlook automatically sends meeting updates to the attendees several times a day. When users delete the responses from their Inbox, it triggers another update to attendees. The issue appears when a user creates an appointment in Outlook and includes themselves as an attendee, often because they are the members of a distribution group or a delegate.
- The iPhone user creates a new appointment in Outlook and uses a distribution group as an attendee; the meeting organizer (iPhone user) is also part of the distribution group.
- The meeting organizer sends the appointment from Outlook.
- An attendee accepts the appointment request.
- The organizer receives the response from the attendee and deletes it from the Inbox.
- A meeting request update is sent out to all attendees of the meeting.
- This repeats itself and Outlook continues to send out meeting updates.
When creating a new appointment in Outlook, do not include yourself as an attendee. If you are using a distribution group to invite others, expand that group and remove yourself as an attendee.
Issue #4: Applies only to iOS 6.0.
The issue appears when users decline a meeting invitation from an iOS 6 device:
Instead of simply sending a notification to the meeting organizer that the user will not attend, iOS 6 is sending meeting cancellation notices to the entire distribution list, thus canceling the invitation for all the attendees.
Microsoft Exchange users with Outlook delegates are experiencing an issue where their accepted calendar events are reverting to tentative on their Outlook client after their iPhone synchronizes via ActiveSync. Even if you go to Outlook and manually accept the meeting, it will revert to tentative within seconds. The issue stops if the iPhone is powered off or if the ActiveSync option to sync the calendar is turned off. If you are experiencing this or a very similar issue, try the following:
- Check the delegate settings in Outlook.
- See if the main account user is sending the calendar invites only to the delegate.
- If it is, change it to send the invites to both delegate and the main account user. Test again.
The message type changes, depending on the delegate settings on Exchange or Outlook, and the iPhone doesn't recognize the message format as a calendar event.
The Reply and Forward flags set on iPhone account are not synchronized to Exchange server 2007; thus, these flags do not appear in Outlook. The only solution is to upgrade to the Exchange server 2010 account.
Issue #7: Applies to iOS 8.2 or higher.
Time Zone Calendar issue can happen to any device that is NOT in PDT time zone.
- The iPhone user creates calendar meeting in EST time slot and invites User 2.
- User 2 accepts the invite
- After the invite was accepted, the iPhone adds a line to the appointment showing PDT time. This happens because all our servers are in Pacific time, so the Apple calendar adds that line to the calendar.
- This issues only occurs when calendar items are created on the iOS device
- Trying the Time Zone Override function on the device does not resolve the issue

Issue #8: Applies to iOS 10 and higher.
If there is a website associated with your domain name and your website does not have appropriate certificates installed, you can get Unable to verify account information error during ActiveSync setup.
Create the email account on iPhone without server information by clicking OK on the error window, then Save.
From the Home screen, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Select your account > account and enter account information and tap Done:
- Email: Enter the full email address.
- Domain: leave it blank.
- Username: Enter the full email address.
- Server: Your Exchange Proxy server name.

After the Exchange account is successfully configured, the server’s password policies are enforced.
