This article describes how to configure URL Rewrite module to forward requests for different domains to separate subfolders on Windows 2008 accounts. For more information about usage of URL Rewrite module refer to URL Rewrite Module Configuration Reference.

  1. Connect to your server using the IIS Remote Manager.
  2. In the Features view, double click URL Rewrite.
  3. In the Actions pane, click Add Rule(s)… and double click Rule with rewrite map.
  4. In the Add Rule with Rewrite Map dialog, choose Rewrite in the Select the rule action drop down list, in the Select the rewrite map combo box specify the name of the new rewrite map and click OK.
  5. On the Edit Rewrite Map page, click Add Mapping Entry… in the Actions pane, then specify a domain name in the Original value box and its containing directory in the New value, then click OK and click Back to rules in the Action pane.
  6. On the URL Rewrite page, click + to the left of the created rule under the Inbound Rules that are applied to the requested URL address area, select the rule under it and click Edit in the Actions pane.
  7. In the Edit Condition dialog, replace REQUEST_URI with HTTP_HOST in the Conditions box and click OK.
  8. On the URL Rewrite page, click the createdrule under the Inbound Rules that are applied to the requested URL address area and click Edit in the Actions pane.
  9. Scroll down to the Actions section in the main window. In the Rewrite URL field, add {REQUEST_URI} at the end and click Apply.
