To configure the iPhone or iPad, you will need to know the Phone ID, password, and Server Name. This information is provided in the welcome email, and you can also view it in My Services or HostPilot.

Note: each Phone ID (Device ID) + password set of credentials has to be unique and can only be used on one PBX phone, no matter if it is a physical device or a softphone.

Tip: If all the user's phone device settings are already being used for other phones, click Activate existing phone in the Phones section (in HostPilot, on the Hosted PBX tab for the user's settings). This generates an additional ID and password to use for configuring a phone. If you don't have access to HostPilot, you will need to ask your technical administrator to do this. Here are the instructions on setting up Bria and Media5-fone on iPhone or iPad (the instructions can also be found in HostPilot > Services > Hosted PBX > General > Get Started > Order & Configure phones):

To set up Bria on iPhone or iPad:

1. Install a SIP calling application of your choice on your iPhone or iPad.
(In the AppStore, search for "SIP". There are a variety of "softphone" applications available to install.)

2. Open the application (in this example, we are using Bria). Navigate to Settings > Accounts and click on a '+' sign to add a new account

3. Type in the settings:

  • Account name: The name of your SIP account, can have any name you'd like.
  • Display As: Display name which will show up at the call recipient's end.
  • Username and Password: enter the device ID and password. To find out what they should be, navigate to My Services > Hosted PBX > Overview and click the Settings link next to the corresponding phone name in the Phone devices section.
  • Domain: Enter the PBX server address. You can find the server name in the user settings in the PBX Server Name field (on the My Services > Hosted PBX > Overview page, below the phone device settings).
  • Set the Enabled switch to ON.

4. All the other settings need to be left default.

Note: If you'd like to access your Voice Mail using Bria, enter your extension into VM number section.

5. You can now use Bria to place and receive calls.

To set up Media5-fone on iPhone or iPad:

1. Install a SIP calling application of your choice on your iPhone or iPad.
(In the AppStore, search for "SIP". There is a variety of "softphone" applications available to install.)

2. Open the application (in this example, we are using Media5-fone). You will be prompted to create an account.

3. In the Username and Password fields, enter the device ID and password. To find out what they should be, navigate to My Services > Hosted PBX > Overview and click the Settings link next to the corresponding phone name in the Phone devices section.

4. In the Servers section, enter the PBX server address. You can leave the default port.
You can find the server name in the user settings in the PBX Server Name field (on the My Services > Hosted PBX > Overview page, below the phone device settings).

5. You may view other Advanced settings, but it is not necessary to change anything else in the SIP application.
Note: If you'd like to access your Voice Mail using Media5-fone, enter your extension into VM number section.

6. Save and close the settings window. Now you can use your SIP application to dial phone numbers.

Note: Media5-fone has a known issue: when using OCS calling with it status may be displayed incorrectly in OCS client (On Call, Busy, etc.)
