The Office Deployment Tool (ODT) makes use of a Configuration.xml file that contains the instructions for what Office software to download from Office 365 and allows the administrator to customize and manage Office 2013 and Office 2016 Click-to-Run deployments. This tool will help administrators to manage installations sources, product/language combinations, and deployment configuration options for Office Click-to-Run.

After the Office 365 ProPlus software is downloaded to your network, you can deploy Office 365 ProPlus to your users in many ways. For example, if you are already using Group Policy computer startup scripts to deploy Office, you can use them to deploy Office 365 ProPlus.

Note: each Office Deployment Tool works only with that specific version of Office.

You can download the Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run from the Microsoft Download Center:

  • Office 2013 ODT for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012.
  • Office 2016 ODT for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019.
