This article describes how to set up an X-Lite 4/Bria 4 softphone to work with the Hosted PBX service.

  1. Log in to HostPilot and navigate to Users. Click on a display name of a user, then click the Hosted PBX tab.
On the current page you will see PBX Server Name and in the settings for the phone: you will see Phone ID and phone Password.
Important note: Each device has to be registered with the PBX using a unique Device ID. If a user would like to use multiple devices (e.g. multiple phones, softphone clients, etc.) the administrator will need to generate additional device IDs in the HostPilotĀ® Control Panel.
The administrator can add another device ID in HostPilot > Services > Hosted PBX > click on the Display Name of the user> Phones > Activate Existing Phone.

  2. Download X-Lite from http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html, or purchase Bria 4 http://www.counterpath.com/bria.html and install the application.
  3. Run X-Lite 4 or Bria 4 client. Follow the steps for the client you installed.
  4. X-Lite 4
    - SoftPhone > Account Settings >
    SIP account.

    - Set the PBX Server Name in Domain, specify your Phone ID for both User ID AND Authorization name

    Bria 4
    - SoftPhone > Account Settings > SIP Account.

    - Set the PBX Server Name in Domain, specify your Phone ID for both User ID AND Authorization name

  5. Once registered, the device status will show “Available”. Your setup is now complete and the device is ready to place calls.
