This article guides on how to use tools that can help to indicate incorrect autodiscover resolution for a particular user and/or device.
It is one of the important troubleshooting steps when you are experiencing any of Autodiscover Related Issues
Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer will help to determine domain-wide issues in the autodiscover configuration while the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration tool is useful with the situations where one or several users are affected.

Outlook tool

This subsection applies to Outlook for Windows clients only. Outlook for Mac does not have Test E-mail AutoConfiguration tool available.

To run the test:

  1. While Outlook is running, hold down the CTRL key, right-click the Outlook icon in your system tray or notification area (lower right corner of computer screen), and then select Test E-mail AutoConfiguration.

  2. Enter your email address and password.
  3. Clear the checkboxes next to Use Guessmart and Secure Guessmart Authentication. Make sure that Use AutoDiscover is selected.
  4. Click the Test button. It may take up to a minute before the test is complete.

Online tool

To test Email Autoconfiguration for your domain without Outlook use the online tool provided by Microsoft.

To run the test:

  1. Select Outlook Autodiscover under Microsoft Office Outlook Connectivity Tests and click Next.
  2. Enter your email address, UPN (User Principal Name, you can use your email address here as well) and your mailbox password.
  3. Check the checkboxes for 

When the test will be complete, you will be presented with results and options to save them. To save results in HTML file, click the icon as shown on the screenshot. You may want to send Support this HTML file.
