If your Windows 2003 hosted account has FrontPage Extensions installed, please follow this article instructions to:
- add new User on your Web/FTP Server via the HostPilot® Control Panel > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Site Users > Create New Web/FTP Site User section (there are no special requirements for settings like Home Directory or FTP checkboxes)
- add this new User to FrontPage users: HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Website Tools > FrontPage 2000/2002 > Manage and press the Manage FrontPage button > click on Manage users link in the Users and Roles section > write down the DOMAIN (Shared Server host name) specified in the Administrator user created automatically (the part before the "\")
- click on Add a user link > select Add user or group name (For example, DOMAIN\name): option and fill the text field with DOMAIN\new_username, select new user role and hit Add User button.
Note: FrontPage 2002 allows to create new users by selecting Add a new user with the following information option as well, without adding new User to the Web/FTP Server on step 1. However, you will not be able to reset the password for FrontPage users created this way.
To reset the password for FrontPage user please navigate to the Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Site Users > click on Site User name > fill the Password and Confirm Password with the new password > hit the Save Changes button
To disable anonymous access to the FrontPage website please navigate to Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Website Tools > FrontPage 2000/2002 > Manage and press the Manage FrontPage button > click on Change anonymous access settings in the Users and Roles section > set Anonymous access is to Off and hit Submit button.
To restrict access to certain FrontPage website directory only and leave the website root available for public access you should: 1. create subweb for the directory you would like to restrict access to: in the FrontPage Management interface please click on Create a subweb in the Subwebs section > specify the directory name in the Name field, leave the Use same permissions as parent web option selected, and hit the Submit button. 2. disable anonymous access to the FrontPage subweb: in the FrontPage Management interface please click on subweb name you created (it will open the subweb management page) > click on Change anonymous access settings links in the Users and Roles section > set Anonymous access is to Off and hit the Submit button.
