SIP Trunking is a VoIP service that replaces expensive, inflexible phone company analog lines/digital PRI trunks.

SIP Trunking Benefits:

  • Lower calling rates: Voice calls are routed over the Internet
  • Reduced operating costs: Less infrastructure to manage; lighter IT load
  • Scalability: Easy to scale to business need; no technician required after initial install
  • Failover protection: Business locations are protected from local outages
  • Business Continuity: Optional features provide additional productivity, business continuity support and market reach

What is SIP Trunking?

SIP Trunking replaces expensive, inflexible phone company lines. You select how many SIP Trunks you need for each office location (minimum of two), how many local and toll free numbers you need, and any optional services (see list below) you wish to add. Many of the optional services can be customized for your specific business need such as business continuity or for each employee’s specific working situation (working in the field, working from home, etc.)

VoIP Test

Our Certified Integration Partners will test your network to ensure it can handle high quality voice calls before install.  That way, any issues that may come up can be addressed up front.

Reliability

Our 99.999% (five nines) financially back service level agreement means that you don’t have to worry about outages.  A five nines SLA means less than 6 minutes per year of unplanned network downtime.

SIP Trunking Interop

Since SIP Trunks are more complex than traditional phone lines we understand that both the phone system manufacturer and the SIP Trunking provider have to work together. We only partner with phone system manufactures that agree to help ensure that our SIP Trunks are fully operability tested with their systems. This means easier installations and tightly integrated ongoing support for customers.

  • Performing onsite support
  • Setting up your web-based management portal

Why SIP Trunking?

  • With SIP trunks, voice calls are routed over the Internet, lowering costs & adding flexibility
When a business needs more trunks, they can purchase only the trunks they need
Order to delivery timeframe is minimal, and NO technician is required onsite after the initial install
Moves, adds & changes are immediate via the online management portal
With SIP Trunking, voice and data run on the same network
If there is an outage, Intermedia’s network automatically reroutes calls to a predetermined failover phone number

How SIP Trunking Works

In some situations, SIP Trunking requires a "VoIP Gateway" device to connect to your existing phone system, and in other cases, SIP Trunking connects directly to your phone system. Your Certified Integration Partner will determine the best fit for your phone system.
When connecting to customer location with an existing analog or digital PBX OR a PBX that Intermedia is not interoped with requires a gateway to convert signaling to SIP.

When connecting to an IP PBX interoped with Intermedia’s SIP Trunks OR a “virtual” cloud-based IP PBX (hosted in a datacenter) – No gateway is required.
