Below you will find instructions on creating a local user for:

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. Click User Accounts.
     
    Note: If you cannot see the option click View By and change it to Large Icons or Classic View in Windows XP.
  3. Click Manage User Accounts.
  4. Switch to Advanced tab and click Advanced.
  5. Right-click Users and choose New User...
  6. Enter the required information, uncheck User must change password at next logon box, check Password never expires box and click Create.

Domain Controllers (Windows Server 2000 - 2008 R2 all editions).

  1. Right-click in the Windows toolbar and choose Properties.
  2. Switch to Start Menu, choose Classic Start Menu and click OK.
  3. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  4. Double-click Administrative Tools.
  5. Click Active Directory Users And Computers.
  6. Choose Users Organizational Unit form the list on the left.
  7. Right click the space located beyond Description and choose New > Users.
  8. Enter the user information and click Next.
  9. Enter the password and click Next.
  10. Click Finish.
