The Mailbox Auto-Mapping feature in Exchange 2010/2013 allows Outlook 2007 (SP2), Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 clients to automatically assign mailboxes to specific users and grant them Full Access permissions.
Note: A special DNS record must be configured for your domain in order for you to take advantage of the Mailbox Auto-Mapping feature.
Please read the Knowledge Base article on What Is An Autodiscover Record And Why Do I Need It? for more information.
To allow other mailboxes to be auto-mapped to Outlook profile:
- Log in to HostPilot® Control Panel and grant a user Full Access permissions to the other mailboxes.
Read the Knowledge Base article on How Do I Enable Send As Or Full Access Permissions On Exchange Account? for more information.
- Restart Outlook client.
It may take several minutes for shared mailboxes to appear in the Navigation Pane:
- If a user has Full Access to several mailboxes, it is recommended to uncheck Download Shared Folders option. To do this open Outlook and navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Double-click on the Exchange mailbox > More settings > Advanced tab. Otherwise, OST file may become corrupted.
- If a user does not want other mailboxes to be auto-mapped to Outlook profile, Full Access should be granted to a Distribution List. The user needs to be a member of this Distribution List.
