The Mailbox Auto-Mapping feature in Exchange 2010/2013/2016/2019 allows Outlook 2007 (SP2) and later versions to automatically assign mailboxes to specific users and grant them Full Access permissions.

Note: A special DNS record must be configured for your domain in order for you to take advantage of the Mailbox Auto-Mapping feature.

To allow other mailboxes to be auto-mapped to Outlook profile:

  1. Log in to HostPilotĀ® Control Panel and grant a user Full Access permissions to the other mailboxes.

  2. Restart Outlook client.

It may take several minutes for shared mailboxes to appear in the Navigation Pane:Automapped Mailbox


  • If a user has Full Access to several mailboxes, it is recommended to uncheck Download Shared Folders option. To do this open Outlook and navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Double-click on the Exchange mailbox > More settings > Advanced tab. Otherwise, OST file may become corrupted..

  • If a user does not want other mailboxes to be auto-mapped to Outlook profile, Full Access should be granted to a Distribution List. The user needs to be a member of this Distribution List.

    Alternatively, you may contact Support to disable auto-mapping.
