Known issues

  1. More information is needed about this router's perfomance in a corporate setting
  2. SIPALG is enabled by default and can be turned off in the Web interface
  3. DNS Relay/Proxying is enabled by default and can be disabled by applying LAN Side DNS via DHCP Menu
  4. DHCP DNS servers need to be modified to a set of efficient DNS servers to prevent registration failures on Polycom phones. 

Resolution

  1. Log into the Frontier Actiontec F2250 Modem/Router
  2. Click on Advanced Setup
  3. Click ALG Settings (From the menu on the left side of any Advanced Setup.)
  4. Find SIP ALG and choose Disable
  5. Hit Apply
  6. Change your DNS configuration. The steps below are only needed if you have or plan to purchase Polycom phones.
    • These changes will take your computers, phones, and all other devices online for 10 minutes or much longer if an unexpected problem arises.
    • Make sure to only make the changes below when you can afford to take your network offline.
      1. Click on Advanced Setup
      2. Click on WAN IP Settings. (From the menu on the left side of any Advanced Setup.)
      3. In Select DNS type choose Static DNS Address and enter:
        • Primary DNS 8.8.8.8
        • Secondary DNS 8.8.4.4
      1. Click Apply Button
      2. Click on Advanced Setup
      3. Click LAN IP and DHCP Settings (From the menu on the left side of any Advanced Setup.)
      4. Find Set the DNS Values
      5. Select Static, enter:
        • Primary DNS 8.8.8.8
        • Secondary DNS 8.8.4.4
      6. Click Apply
  7. Reboot Frontier Actiontec F2250 Modem/Router and all hosts on your network to accept these setting changes.
