On the Billing Day of the month, charges for Intermedia Unite services will apply to the account and the transaction will be posted. The transaction will provide an explanation of charges file in PDF format.

This article shows the current layout of the Explanation of Charges (IS, SIP-R, Cloud PBX 2.0, Intermedia Unite).

The first page of the Explanation of Charges file shows the following:

  • Current Charges section shows any adjustments (credits or debits) during the last billing period as well as the current monthly charges and total of this bill.
  • One-Time Charges section shows shipping or porting fees if any were generated during the billing period.
  • Recurring Service Charges (IS, SIP-T, Intermedia Unite) section shows monthly service charges for service numbers, lines, users/licenses. 
  • Line Charges (Cloud PBX 2.0) section shows the monthly charges for any lines of service.
  • Hardware Charges section shows any applicable charges for physical items purchased during the last billing period.
  • Usage charges section shows charges that accrued for long distance, conferencing, inbound toll-free, etc.
  • Surcharges and Other Fees section consists of two categories: (To see detailed explanations of what these charges are, read the Knowledge Base article on Explanation of Taxes, Fees and Surcharges.)
    • Government Telecommunications Service Fees: These fees are any government-related surcharge passed through to the customer.
    • Regulatory Cost Recovery Surcharges: These are Intermedia's monthly recurring charges; such as Regulatory Compliance Fees, Emergency Services Surcharges, and Inter-Exchange Carrier Charges.
  • Government Taxes and Fees section shows the Federal, State, and Local taxes.

The second page of the Explanation of Charges file shows separate charges, surcharges, government taxes and fees by an individual line of service: service number and/or location.

Intermedia Unite

For Intermedia Unite product accounts the detailed breakdown first separates the charges by physical location and then separates the charges by phone number as well within those physical locations. Each section will include the phone number and associated charges for that number, like one-time charges (porting fees, shipping fees), usage charges, monthly recurring fees, surcharges, government taxes, and fees:

  • If a license was assigned to a user, you will see a User with Unified Communications License charges.
  • If a license was not assigned to a user, you will see charges for Unified Communications License under One-Time Charges section on page 2.

CSV Format of Explanation of Charges

The .csv file format reflects the changes to the Explanation of Charges. The field labeled mrc-840 includes the monthly recurring charge for the line associated line item and also includes the Government Fees and Regulatory Surcharges.

  • MRC-840: this field contains the monthly recurring charge, no fees or surcharges are included.
  • Surcharge-840: this field displays the monthly recurring government fees and regulatory surcharges.
  • GovtSurcharges-840: this field displays the monthly government surcharges and fees.
  • Surcharges-840: this field was renamed to Payphone-840 to prevent confusion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if, during the billing cycle, a number that was assigned to a User is changed to Unassigned?

A: The number will be listed as Unassigned on the Explanation of Charges because that is what it was designated as at the end of the month. It will include prorated charges for being assigned to a User for the length of time it was assigned to that user.

Q: How can I change the automated email setting for the monthly billing report

A: Only Invoices go to the email address of an account contact with the Billing Manager role. The explanation of charges can be downloaded via HostPilotĀ® Control Panel.

Q: What if the address that a service (i.e. User) is changed mid-cycle?

A: The Explanation of Charges will only show the current address that the number has and will list the charge detail for that address.

Q: What if a phone number is moved to another service on a different location?

A: The Explanation of Charges will show the number twice. Once under each location, it was provisioned on. The charges in each section will only reflect those that pertained to that specific address, so there will not be any duplication of charge information.

Q: Where is the Intermedia Unite Tax Address location?

A: The Intermedia Unite Tax address location is in the location address for tax purposes.
