When Maintain option is enabled for a datasource, ColdFusion keeps the connection open after its first connection to the database. It does not log out of the database after this first connection even if you stopped your website.

Therefore, in case you need to download/upload your Access database you should:

For ColdFusion MX / MX 7 / 8

  1. Stop the website: HostPilotĀ® Control Panel > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Start/Stop
  2. Disable the Maintain option via the HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > ODBC Data Sources
  3. Wait for 2 minutes after Maintain option is disabled before working with Access database as it takes time to release database for ColdFusion
  4. Download/upload Access database
  5. Enable the Maintain option via the HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > ODBC Data Sources
  6.  Start the website: HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Start/Stop

For ColdFusion 4.5 / 5

  1. Run an invalid query against the database. For example:
    <cfquery name="Release" datasource="#DSN#" dbtype="#DBTYPE#">
    SELECT cool FROM killer WHERE access = 'Release'
    </cfquery>
  2. Stop the website: HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Start/Stop
  3. Download/upload Access database
  4. Start the website: HostPilot > Web/FTP Server > Web Server > Start/Stop

    Note: If you have a busy site there is a chance someone else can be running a valid query immediately after you ran invalid query and before you stopped the website. In this case the Access database will be locked by ColdFusion process again and you should start from the first step to release it.
